Autumn’s Arrival & How to Connect with Us
Although it surely has gotten chillier out there, we want to extend a warm welcome to all those reading this blog post that brings us to the closing of September!
Autumn has officially arrived at this point, bringing a stunning transformation to the natural world. As the leaves shift into brilliant shades of orange, red, and gold, the landscape offers a unique opportunity for photographers to capture the fleeting beauty of the season. You can see for yourself by just scrolling along the incredible nature photographs selected just for this post.
As a non-profit, our organization is dedicated to celebrating this connection between art and the outdoors. Our mission is “To inspire young people to explore and connect with the natural world through photography, fostering creativity, curiosity, and environmental stewardship”. Already, in the first month of the school year, we have completed 8 workshops with students across Waterloo, Guelph and Halton. When we told you we could not wait to get started with inspiring students this school year, we really, really meant it!
From the individuals who are in schools daily, getting students hands on with cameras, to our staff who work remotely, we know and believe that photography is more than just a hobby; it is a way to tell the story of our environment. For instance, we host regular photography exhibits that are open to the public for viewing to empower and demonstrate the skills and talents of local student artists. Luckily, we have our Fresh Perspectives Exhibit currently being hosted at Guelph City Hall. Go, go, go to Guelph and give it a gander guys!
Fortunately, there are many other ways to connect with us. If you are a teacher yourself or a staff member at an elementary or secondary school in Ontario, the ultimate way to work with us is by booking an in school workshop. This experience is truly like no other. And hey, that’s not just us saying that! View teacher testimonials by clicking here.
Moving on, if you are a student or young adult that are not in grades 3-11, we do too have some exciting opportunities in store for you. These include applying to volunteer with us or considering an employment position with our organization. We are always looking to meet fellow nature lovers and increase our number of people working towards our beloved artistic and environmental mission. We want to work with YOU so what are you waiting for?!
To our wider community and to everyone who is interested in moving forward with us and connecting even more children with nature through photography, our shop and gallery are both always open 24/7 at your convenience! Browsing the gallery for updated top shots from ongoing in school workshops or purchasing a pack of greeting cards may not seem like a huge task, but this contribution supports the work we do with students across Ontario year after year and we gratuitously thank you!
Last but certainly not least- PARENTS!! You are able to connect with us directly by enrolling your child in our annual March Break and Summer camp programs. While we still have plenty of time before March, registration opens in January so be sure to mark your calendars. Spots go quickly for this week of fun and we often have returning campers so you won’t want to wait around!
Well, *sips water* that was a lot. Thank you for sticking with us to the end- we are almost done, promise!
As fall is without a doubt here, let’s enjoy it! Get out there with your camera and take some time to check out our website and all that we can offer you. Surely there is something for every member of the family; even our furry friends. Just see the flicks below!
See you in Spooky Season!
