Focus on Nature Seeks New Board Members
Focus on Nature is a registered charity operating in South Ontario that inspires young people to explore and connect with nature through photography. We conduct workshops in schools and day camps in the summer and during March Break. We envision a world where our connections to nature create a healthy, flourishing planet.
Focus on Nature is recruiting up to 4 new board members to complement the strengths of our small but mighty board. We are a working board that currently meets monthly (with a break in the summer), typically on the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 6:30-8:30 pm. We currently have hybrid meetings, with some board members joining us in a board room in Guelph, and the rest joining via Zoom. Board members from Southwestern Ontario are encouraged to apply. We are a friendly, supportive, and passionate board. Prior experience on a board is not required.
For anyone interested in joining the board of Focus on Nature, we are happy to meet with individuals to explore their interests. For those who are still interested the next step would be to participate in some board meetings to see how we operate and determine if it is a good fit. If you are interested in being involved, without becoming a board member, we are always happy to find people to join our committees (e.g. our Garden Party Committee, our Program Committee, etc.). The time commitment for committees varies, but most don’t meet more often than once a month.
More information about Focus on Nature and our board can be found at the following on our website. Click on the link to the board overview for a brief summary about being a Focus on Nature Director.
We particularly encourage individuals with the following skillsets to reach out:
- Individuals with legal experience
- Fund development, marketing, and promotions
- Special events and exhibits
