Kicking off the Summer with Art Markets!
Happy Summer, everyone! As the days grow longer, we can enjoy the outdoors for hikes, games, and art markets! This year, we’re trying something different instead of our annual Garden Party. Our goal is to be in our communities that we service from Guelph to Halton, to Waterloo and Dufferin-Peel - we want to be participating in outdoor art markets this summer to share our student photographers' amazing work!
We kicked it off on Saturday, June 21st with the Art on the Street and the Summer Solstice Shindig in Guelph. It was a blistering hot day, with a bit of rain to cool us off. The music, the food, and the local artist talent was a perfect spot for us to share the incredible talent of our student photographers. We had selected artwork on display with a cool photo frame wooden divider, bookmarks with even more student photos, custom printed journals with 7 special edition photos on the cover, and a poem book of flowers with floral photos from students across the regions all up for grabs with a simple donation.
With every donation made, there was a Spin and Win bingo wheel where every spinner was a winner! People won bookmarks, nature bingo cards, photo cards, journals, and a book of poems! We had prizes for a large custom canvas print - but none were claimed on that day.
Moving forward to Thursday, June 26th, we came to Music on the River in Port Credit in support of REThink Breast Cancer. There was a talented saxophonist to open the night, and incredible vocalists as the night progressed. With over 125 visitors, we were the talk of the booths, with people astonished at the incredible photography presented by students from our workshops and summer camps.
At both locations, we had a draw for FREE summer camps - winners have been contacted! We had about 200 visitors between all of the events, and raised $353 dollars in donations. That’s an incredible amount of support, and we thank everyone who visited us to chat, donate, and walk away with something special to remember our organization by.
We are looking ahead to July with summer camps in full swing starting in Waterloo, and hopefully another Music on the River event at the end of the month as well! Stay turned to our socials to follow where we will be at next! Drop by, say hi, and bring home some outstanding youth photography!
