Halton Media Release

OAKVILLE, ON – Focus on Nature is pleased to announce the opening of their online Halton Photography Exhibition, featuring works by local young photographers who have participated in Focus on Nature in-school workshops and day camps. Selected from thousands of student photos taken throughout 2021, these images creatively capture the Elements of Design and showcase strong composition skills.

Photography provides new ways of seeing and understanding our local environment. Focus on Nature, a local organization that connects kids to nature through photography and encourages young photographers to slow down and appreciate the world around them. Their day camps and workshops foster a genuine interest in and appreciation for nature as a key step toward long-term environmental stewardship. This new visual display shows how young people are getting out and engaging with the natural world.

“We had hoped to be able to present in-person exhibitions of the students’ best pictures in January but had to cancel those plans. We are pleased to tell you that these same wonderful pictures can now be seen in a special exhibition on our website. We will miss seeing the photographers in person, with their families, at an opening reception. However, the good news is that they can easily share their wonderful art with family and friends – regardless of where they live – at times that are convenient for them. Even if you don’t know one of the photographers, be sure to follow the link to this exhibition and enjoy these stunning pictures.”, says Bob Fanning, Board President.

“Young people see the world differently than adults; these remarkable images capture the interesting and delightful ways in which they view nature. Our exhibits show the importance of a healthy connection between children and nature and the power of art in deepening that connection. I hope these photos inspire people of all ages to spend time outdoors and discover the wonders of the natural world around them”, said Simon Bell, Executive Director of Focus on Nature.

The virtual exhibit runs until March 31, 2022.
